Over 190kgs of rubbish removed from Tan-Y-Foel beach

We had a great time last Saturday at the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) Beachwatch Big Weekend and launch of Keep Wales Tidy Week.
We surveyed 100m of beach as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s annual UK wide survey to fight against marine litter, in total 400m of beach was surveyed.

While we were surveying a team of volunteer removed some large items included a blue door covered in stickers (36.5kg), a large boat trailer support (31kg), a bag of set cement (32kg) and a wooden pallet (30kg). Strangely a pair of size 10 wellies and a load of old carpet were also found on the beach.

Supporting the Beachwatch Big Weekend and Keep Wales Tidy Week were the Anglesey Sea Zoo, The Marine Conservation Society, Keep Wales Tidy, North Wales Police, Verdant, Isle of Anglesey County Council Waste Section and Carol Mead from Able Fitness.
